Shark Bay Salt Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Ltd, which is one of the world’s most diversified trading, investment and services enterprises. It owns and operates two saltfields in Western Australia — Shark Bay Resources and Onslow Salt.

History

In 1973, Mitsui entered into the Shark Bay Salt Joint Venture with an Australian partner and became involved in solar marine salt operations in Western Australia. In 2005 the Company acquired 100% of the project. In 2006, Mitsui acquired the majority interest of Onslow Salt and completed 100% acquisition of the project in 2007.
